In this lesson we will use Photoshop’s TEXT and EDITING tools to create an ‘expressive’ design.
You will choose a word (an adjective, a verb) and use the font tools, effects and images to illustrate & visually describe the meaning of the word.
Instructions:
Open Photoshop
Create a new document > Web > Web minimum
- Use the text tool to write a word. Use an ADJECTIVE or a VERB or any word that you can have fun expressing visually.
- Find the correct FONT. Think carefully about what FONT represents your word’s meaning.
- Adjust the size, the width, the height, the tracking of the word to make it fit.
- Convert the font to a shape to make it unique/match the meaning.
- Add an IMAGE texture above the word. Use LAYER>CLIPPING MASK to make the image stick to the word.
- Play with the EFFECTS/LAYER STYLES – add drop shadows, glows, etc.
- Add a Background Image, use the ADJUSTMENT LAYERS to fix the image’s color and look.
